The VP, Technical Program Management will be responsible for building and leading Magic Leap’s large scale Program Management Organization, focused on the delivery of an innovative high-volume wearable computing device. 


You will deliver on the execution of a complex engineering program while ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals.


Responsibilities:



  • Lead the program management organization comprised of multiple program managers embedded within the hardware, software, design (ID/UI), content, and supply chain teams focused on the development and delivery of a new computing platform

  • Implement processes consistent with Project Management Professional (PMP) and AGILE best practices 

  • Lead the planning and implementation of software and hardware milestones 

  • Facilitate the definition of program scope, goals, and deliverables

  • Capture overall program resource requirements and manage resource allocation

  • Develop full-scale program plan 

  • Assist in the recruiting, hiring and coordination of program management staff

  • Develop, manage, and track budgets

  • Oversee the tracking and execution of program deliverables using MS Project and AGILE software tools

  • Provide direction and support to program management team

  • Ensure the quality of all the program deliverables including hardware, software, content, industrial design, and user interface

  • Constantly monitor, track and report on progress of the program 

  • Present program progress, issues and mitigations to all stakeholders

  • Implement and manage change control board 

  • Proactively identify potential issues and propose mitigation plans or alternative solutions

  • Identify key performance indicators, implement meaningful metrics, and measure product performance

  • Prepare presentations for senior management articulating program status, key risks, and mitigations, and technical milestones

Required Experience:



  • Minimum 20 years of experience as a Program Manager on a high volume consumer electronics product with emphasis on hardware and software integration

  • Experience in delivering large and complex hardware and software programs, especially in a mobile product development environment

  • Minimum of six years Management/Supervisory experience essential

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Must be capable of leading a large team of some of the most talented and accomplished Program Managers in the United States

  • Experience with computers software packages such as MS project, Crystal Ball, EXCEL, PowerPoint, MS Word, Hansoft, and JIRA

  • Experience with cloud services and software security strongly desired

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of program and project management

  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools including MS Project

  • Proven experience in AGILE software development methodologies

  • Proven experience in people management

  • Proven experience in strategic planning

  • Proven experience in risk management

  • Proven experience in change management

  • Proficient in software program management 

  • Travel across offices as needed (estimated 15%)


Education:



  • BA/BS in a Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other engineering discipline is required

  • PMP Certification or extensive PMBOK knowledge is required

  • AGILE SCRUM Certification is heavily preferred
