Who we are

TransferWise was founded in 2011 with a clear mission: Money without borders - so people and businesses can send, spend and get paid in any currency, whenever, wherever.

Sure, the heart of what we do is international money transfer. And we’re committed to making it instant, convenient and fair for millions of people, all over the world. But we’re growing our other products and our teams at an exciting pace. And we’re looking for the very best to jump on board.

What it’s really like to work here

At TransferWise, we do things a bit differently. There’s no corporate nonsense, and no old-fashioned hierarchy. Instead, we work in dozens of self-sufficient, autonomous teams. Think of them like start-ups within a start-up.

Each team picks the problems they want to solve. So there’s no micro-management. No hiding behind fancy job titles. And no one telling you what to do. You are your own boss. But you’ll get tons of guidance and plenty of support from your talented, super-smart team mates.

We’re going to be upfront — the way we work doesn’t suit everyone. But if freedom, autonomy, and life-affirming, head-scratching professional challenges rock your world, we could be a match made in heaven.

A bit about the job

We're looking for a super smart Technical SEO Specialist to join our growing performance marketing team. SEO at TransferWise isn’t about sticking keywords on a webpage or building artificial links, but making sure we offer the best possible products, content and on-site experiences to our customers. At TransferWise we’re on a mission to empower our users to make smart financial decisions based on transparent information. Our SEO team is no different. There is no point in working in search unless you understand how what you’re building is helping the end user.

So while we need someone who ‘gets’ SEO, we also need someone who can get to the heart of how we help our users and change the world for the better. If that’s you, read on.

What will you get to do?

Cross-team collaboration is key - you’ll work closely with our product marketing engineers to develop early conversion funnels and other product ideas that will help us drive more qualified traffic.

You’ll have the chance to put on your lab coat and run SEO experiments, proving the value of our ideas, and helping to scale them up.

Keep on top of troubleshooting and fixing site issues, and ensure we maintain a clean internal link structure.

Research new potential target audiences and figure out how best to reach them.

Report against monthly and quarterly performance targets. Communicate key insights and obstacles to the team and broader company.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with some of our fantastic international teams, and even to travel to our offices around the world...

About you….

You’ll have experience in executing large scale SEO projects (International experience is beneficial but not essential).

A strong knowledge of technical SEO. A good understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

You enjoy building products, whether it’s through a proven ability to work closely with engineering teams, or building your own projects.

You’re confident using the most popular SEO tools: webmaster consoles, crawlers, keyword tracking, and backlink discovery tools. You know how to make some basic requests from an API.

You’re skilled with Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics. Bonus points for MixPanel experience. More importantly, you know how to extract useful information from these tools—you can debug tracking issues, configure meaningful analytics goals, and can design effective experiments.

We have no shortage of analytics, so you’ll need to have a head for numbers, and show you can easily extract key, actionable insights from the data. Comfortable working on large datasets and proficiency using advanced Excel functionalities. Ideally, you’ll have some knowledge of SQL.

You have a proven record of assuming ownership and moving quickly to implement ideas.

Lastly but most importantly: a passion for TransferWise mission and drive to provide our customers the best possible search experience.

What’s in it for you?

You’ll be part of a team of exceptionally talented marketers who consistently break new ground in performance marketing. You’ll also be on the receiving end of some truly excellent benefits, including Vitality Healthcare, Aviva pension scheme, subsidised gym membership and a whole lot of free food.
